AUSTRALIAN ELECTORAL COMMISSION
Guiding the nation to the ballot box

MAKING VOTING SIMPLE

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) manages federal elections and referendums across Australia, ensuring the voting process is fair and accessible. It maintains the electoral roll to keep track of eligible voters. It also educates the public about how and why to vote, providing clear information and resources to encourage participation.

Working under the AEC’s brand guidelines, I helped design and maintain a suite of assets for both the 2025 Federal Election campaign and the 2024 Referendum. From posters and digital banners to social tiles, my work supported a consistent national message encouraging enrolment, education, and voter participation. The challenge was balancing clarity with accessibility, ensuring every Australian, regardless of background or language, could engage confidently with the democratic process. Through collaboration with a wider team of designers and communicators, I delivered visuals that were informative, inclusive, and on-message during a significant moment in Australia’s political landscape.

THE IMPACT

Australia achieved a record 98.2% enrolment rate and around 90–91% voter turnout in the 2025 Federal Election, the highest participation levels in decades. This strong civic engagement demonstrates the effectiveness of clear, consistent communication in encouraging voter action.

Posters, digital banners, social media tiles, and referendum voting materials played a key role in guiding Australians through the electoral process. Designed under the AEC’s brand guidelines and deployed nationwide, these materials supported accessibility and reinforced confidence in voting.

By simplifying key messages and enhancing trust, my design helped Australians enrol, understand, and participate in one of the most significant democratic events in recent history.
